A propos
In the collection of essays “The Undercommons: Fugitive Planning and Black Study” (2013) Harney and Moten draw up a political, social and aesthetic critique of racial capitalism by exploring forms of resistance to colonial commons. Unfolding as a place of uncertainty, collective creation, informal exchange and improvisation, ‘the Undercommons’ was an essential trigger in Ève’s research leading up to ‘The Surplus of the Non-producer’.
In collaboration with Rosanna Puyol, co-founder of Brook publishing (Paris), we will offer a three-day workshop aimed at sharing this reflection through the collective translation from French to English and Dutch of a selection of passages from the book. Rosanna Puyol initiated this process of collective translations in 2018, as a way to reflect the ‘multitudes’ that are called upon by the authors. In order to ground this process within the multilingual context of Brussels, the third day of the workshop aims at initiating a Dutch translation of “The Undercommons”.

Saturday 12.06 collective translation FR > NL
