This program journeys through the expressive heart of the violin sonata, from Classical elegance to Romantic intensity.
We begin with Violin Sonata No. 10 in G major, Op. 96 by Ludwig van Beethoven, a work of luminous balance and lyrical dialogue between violin and piano. Hubay’s Fantasia on Themes from Carmen, Op. 3 transforms melodies from Georges Bizet’s opera into a brilliant, fiery showpiece. After intermission, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Sonata in E minor, K. 304 offers poignant
elegance and emotional depth, followed by Johannes Brahms’s Sonata No. 3 in D minor, Op. 108, a passionate finale rich in drama and sweeping lyricism.
