Theodore
Koumartzis is a renowned lyre player and the visionary behind the
pioneering SEIKILO Museum of Ancient Music in Thessaloniki. Being an
integral part of the LUTHIEROS family of luthiers, he had the chance to
participate with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the
Hellenic University of Greece to research and develop several ancient
musical instruments. He has performed in many prestigious Universities
and institutions in China (Museum of Konghou), Canada (UBC, UViC,
Vancouver Public Library), United States (MIM Museum of Musical
Instruments in Phoenix, Arizona) and in June of 2025 he performed at the
United Nations Headquarters in New York, resonating the ancient lyre
for the first time in many countries around the world. Theodore’s
multifaceted musical journey also encompasses the founding of two bands,
the folk fusion band "Reggetiko Project" and the ancient world music
ensemble "Pausis," releasing several music albums over the past decade
and performing live in venues around the globe, such as in Sicily,
Istanbul, Nicosia, Bonn, Vancouver, the National Archaeological Museum
of Greece etc.
Lina Palera is a world-renowned lyre player and a
certified music instructor with teaching experience at music schools in
UK, Greece and abroad, working both with adults and children. She
travels around Greece and abroad giving live performances at museums,
festivals, educational institutions, conferences and other venues.
Lina
has done extensive studies in music and holds degrees in harmony, in
counterpoint and Jazz Vocals by Thessaloniki Contemporary Conservatory
(Greece), and postgraduate studies in PGCE in Music at the University of
Middlesex (UK). She is a a certified string instrument's musician, with
12 years studies in classical guitar before moving to ancient lyre. As a
lyre player, Lina has performed live at concert halls, museums,
international conferences etc. such as the Museum of Byzantine Culture
(Thessaloniki), the International Book Fair (Greece), the Museum of
Ancient Greek Music Technology (Athens), and the Frankfurt MusicMesse
(Germany).
