Exposition de photographies par Mao Piavaux et Aude Vanlathem du 2 novembre au 13 décembre 2019.

Vernissage en présence des photographes le 3 novembre 2019 à 17h30.

Travail à quatre yeux, Mao Piavaux et Aude Vanlathem ont créé un endroit imaginaire à partir de différents lieux qu'elles ont visités séparément (mais toujours entre les 48e à 60e parallèles Nord) et qui, pourtant, présentent de nombreuses similitudes, alors qu'ils n'appartiennent parfois pas au même continent.

De cette observation fortuite, les deux complices - qui se sont croisées sur les bancs de l’INRACI (Bruxelles) un beau matin de septembre 2002 - ont ainsi créé un livre photo consacré à cet archipel et l’ont ensuite transposé en exposition photographique.

Two photographers, Mao Piavaux and Aude Vanlathem, for one imaginary place, the Faltazi Island, vaguely situated to the North from the Shetland Island, poetic islands assembled from different places they visited seprately and that are quite similar even if settled on different continents.

Stories were written around the pictures and finally a book came to life, narrating the fable of the Faltazi Islands, poetic, ancient and endangered by climate change and sea rise. Most of all, the Faltazi legend speak about long walks in the wind, simpe life, unkind weather and rare people due to the difficulty to access them.

Many reasons to come to our Library to discover those dreamy islands!
